We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Operations Shift Lead to join our team in Leiden, Netherlands.
Position Summary
As an Operations shift lead, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day management of our operational production. You will be responsible for overseeing shift team, ensuring the progress, safety, quality of our processes. Your ability to promptly escalate deviations or breakdowns to the appropriate stakeholders will be essential in maintaining our operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance, Values & Governance

- Takes ownership of personal training and ensures all required training is completed on time.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Operational Support & Leadership
- Provides operational and strategic support to executive leaders within the Operations unit.
- Acts as the first point of escalation within the Operations unit.
- Coordinates prioritization for the processing of ingredients and/or pharmaceutical (new) products in case of escalations/issues. Effectively communicate the progress of the daily production processes to the organization & Ensure proper RCA and investigation is taking place of all issues escalated.
- Supports coordination of Operations support functions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables.
- Contributes to Operations strategies, projects, programs, and processes.
Continuous Improvement & Excellence
- Applies advanced knowledge of standard operating procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Identifies, leads, and implements improvement opportunities within Operations.
- Facilitates and leads Kaizen activities to support continuous improvement across the organization.
- Conducts daily Gemba walks and spot checks and removes operational roadblocks.
- Maintains ownership of standardized visual management across Operations.
- Establishes and implements cost‑effective, results‑driven, and professionally managed programs and initiatives.
- Coaches internal teams on process improvement methods to enhance safety, quality, reliability, cost, and scheduling.
- Develops and reports performance indicators using data.
- Integrates insights from trend analysis and the competitive landscape to continuously improve the Operations strategy.
Safety, Quality & Incident Response
- Acts as building captain and leads the emergency response team for the Operations unit.
- Coordinates initial actions during evacuation/safety events impacting multiple Operations departments.
- Demonstrates composure and calm leadership in challenging or time‑critical situations.
Collaboration & People Development
- Enhances collaboration across departments and with external partners.
- Provides guidance and direction to groups of employees.
- Coaches junior employees.
- Demonstrates effective change leadership.
- Promotes a culture of belonging through inclusive, respectful, and trusting relationships.
Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent University Degree is required. Relevant HBO degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a non‑relevant HBO degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- Dutch language proficiency at A2 level and English language proficiency at B2 level.
- Computer proficiency: Intermediate level: MS Office
- Specialist level: Data analysis
- Specialist level: Business applications
- Green Belt certification with demonstrated Lean skills and knowledge.
- Strong analytical capability, including the ability to manage complexity, ask critical questions, and apply data‑driven insights.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capability to lead by example, providing guidance and direction to employees.

€64,000.00 - €103,040.00Benefits:
In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
