The Netherlands is home to some of the largest manufacturing sites in the world​. In Haarlem we produce, package and distribute 2.500 different medicines and vaccines to 140 countries worldwide.  Haarlem is known as the 'flexible packaging' site in Europe and has a wide variety of technology platforms. The Global Logistics department, comprising 120 dedicated employees, oversees the management of incoming goods, the inspection and storage of bulk and finished goods (FIGOs), as well as components. Additionally, this team is responsible for distributing all our FIGOs to over 140 countries worldwide. You'll work alongside talented professionals who are dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in global logistics. Together, we aim to deliver an exceptional service that positively impacts patient health around the world.

Purpose of the Position

As the Associate Director of Global Logistics, you will be at the forefront of driving operational excellence within our operational teams. In this influential role, you will navigate a complex logistics landscape, ensuring compliance with industry standards while inspiring and leading a diverse operations team to achieve our shared strategic goals. To successfully fulfill the responsibilities of this role, a combination of strong leadership skills, analytical abilities, and collaborative approaches is essential.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Realization of operational targets and activities related to safety, quality, delivery and compliance.

  • Leading a team of 8 operational team leads, having some 90 indirect reports.

  • Continuous improvement of logistics and warehouse operations using lean management principles.

  • Employee recruitment, retention, and training.

  • Build a skilled and motivated workforce, fostering a positive workplace culture.

  • Development of the departmental annual profit plan.

  • Initiation of data-driven improvement business cases.

  • Acting as deputy of the Director Global Logistics and supporting strategic priorities.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree: Showcase your expertise with a degree in supply chain or logistics.

  • 5 Years of Experience in leading teams: Use your people management skills to guide and support your logistics professionals.

  • GMP/GDP Management Experience: Navigate the regulatory environment with ease.

  • Trade Compliance Knowledge: Master international logistics and customs clearance.

  • Ambition and Leadership: Demonstrate your readiness for growth and team support.

  • Commitment to Compliance: Ensure product integrity and worker safety.

  • Lean/Six Sigma Skills: Drive efficiency and quality improvements.

  • Strong Communication: Collaborate effectively in Dutch and English.
