We have an exciting new job opportunity at our Animal Health location in Boxmeer and are looking to hire an Associate Scientist in our histology lab at the Center for Diagnostic Solutions.
Welcome in our team
The histology lab is part of the AH R&D organization, which develops pharmaceutical and biological animal health products for the global market. The histology lab consists of two technicians and is supported by the pathologist. The lab is part of the Center for Diagnostic Solutions, which includes a total of 20 colleagues. Our lab conducts various assays utilizing a range of advanced and evolving techniques. We collaborate closely with our Research & Development team and our global technical marketing colleagues to provide optimal support for both new and existing veterinary products.
Purpose of the role
As a histology technician, you will perform all common histological activities, including embedding and processing sample material into microscopically assessable specimens. You will also make an active contribution to the (further) development and optimization of existing and new protocols and techniques. You will be responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of your experiments. You will work closely together with the other technicians within the team and the department, as well as with the pathologist of the Animal Research Department. You will report to the associate project leader of the project team. The work is embedded in a GLP quality system in which a proactive attitude is required from you.
Your responsibilities comprise:
- The organization, execution and reporting of histology techniques, such as processing sample material, manufacturing paraffin sections and performing immunohistochemistry stains.
- Supporting and conducting (sub)projects in which new methods will be developed or existing methods will be improved.
- Fulfill general tasks within the organization related to GLP, EHS, IT and/or laboratory coordination.
- Perform all tasks according to GLP and EHS compliance requirements.
- Close interaction with fellow scientists within own and other departments (e.g. R&D, production, quality, animal research department, regulatory affair departments, global marketing).
- Support of training of new employees and trainees.
Required knowledge and skills
- HLO / Bachelor with 1-3 years experience in the subject area (histopathology).
- You have experience with histological techniques and procedures, such as processing sample material, manufacturing paraffin sections and performing histological stains and immunohistochemistry stains.
- Experience with automation (i.e. slide scanner) would be of added value.
- You have experience with and a proactive approach to a quality system and EHS requirements.
- You have good documentation skills and strong communication skills in Dutch as well as English.
- You have a pragmatic, proactive and enthusiastic personality, coupled with the ability to work independently.
