For our Animal Health location Boxmeer we are currently recruiting a Manager Biosafety & Industrial Hygiene

Welcome to our team

The production facilities in Boxmeer and De Bilt are part of our global animal health production network and manufacture and package animal health products according to Good Manufacturing Practices standards (GMP). Our production organization consists of several Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) and Centers of Excellence (CoEs). Our Global Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) department (~21 employees) provides safety and environmental support for our animal health organization at the Boxmeer and De Bilt facilities to drive towards world class EHS performance. The department covers all the essential EHS expertise, with a team of 8 individuals specializing in Biosafety & Industrial Hygiene (BS&IH). To further develop this team and due to the upcoming retirement of the current manager, we are seeking a Manager Biosafety & Industrial Hygiene.

Purpose of the role

Under the direction of the EHS Director, your primary focus is on further developing the team's potential with the aim of planning, developing, and implementing BS&IH programs to assure continuous compliance with local and national legislation, company standards, and industry best practices. Additionally, you play a key role in guiding site leadership to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, corporate standards, policies, and procedures concerning EHS, as well as industry best practices. This role requires close collaboration with (site) leaders in Manufacturing, Research & Development, EHS, Engineering, Global Biosafety and Bioprocess Technical Solutions (BTS).

Main tasks

  • Manage and develop the team of BS&IH professionals assigned to the Boxmeer and related sites (including contractors).
  • Strong leadership in setting direction and expectations for BS&IH requirements to your team and show great responsibility to it by ‘walk the talk’.
  • Align with the other team(s) within the EHS Department and drive continuous improvement focused on both approaches and outcomes.
  • Build network of BS&IH sponsors and support on site and with global organizations.
  • Serve as a buddy for the EHS lead as a member of Site Leadership team and provide both BS&IH and business insights.
  • Assure completion of required reports to EHS lead and site, divisional and/or corporate management and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage budgetary & capital needs to support BS&IH initiatives, projects and programs.
  • Serve as interface with local governmental EHS agencies and insurance carriers.
  • Evaluate, with the Engineering Departments, the requirements related to BS&IH applicable for new projects and processes as well as changes in the existing processes and installation.
  • Advising site management on the safe and sound operation of all BS&IH processes.
  • Communicating clearly and consistently complex technical and regulatory information to both senior level site leaders and shop floor colleagues.
  • Potential to provide BS&IH support to other sites in the Netherlands/Europe.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Medical Biology, (Bio)Chemistry, (Bio)Process Technology, (Business) Engineering, Management of Safety, Health and Environment (MoSHE) or Hogere Veiligheidskunde).
  • Strong relevant experience in a (pharmaceutical) manufacturing environment, with knowledge of or affinity for Biosafety and/or Industrial Hygiene.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of professionals, with a strong focus on setting expectations, providing direction, and fostering accountability.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, ability to work transparently and with a sense of urgency across various functions.
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English language.
  • Living at a reasonable distance of Boxmeer (this role requires a minimum of 4 days per week of presence on site).
