Purpose of the position

As a critical member of the EMEA GES Project Execution organization, this position reports directly to the GES Area Director and plays an essential role in driving the successful execution of a wide-ranging portfolio of projects within our API, Biologics, Vaccines, and Animal Health network. The key responsibilities of this role include providing strategic direction and oversight for a portfolio of capital projects at the Boxmeer site, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from business case development to Project Handover. Additionally, the role involves cultivating, coaching, and retaining a High Performance Organization that not only fosters employee development but also delivers exceptional customer value while demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.

Moreover, collaboration with Area Directors, Technology Centre Leads, Capital Procurement, and Digital Leads is crucial for creating teams that can effectively execute key strategic projects. This involves working closely with various stakeholder groups such as Operations, Quality, Safety, and Engineering to ensure robust project sponsorship and governance while also developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the Site Leadership team. Communication of the project portfolio results and identification of process improvement opportunities are also important aspects of this position.

Additionally, creating a top-tier safety culture within the organization and with partner EPCM teams is a priority, demanding a strong emphasis on safety and risk management. Moreover, it involves collaborating and coordinating with key Service Providers/partners to ensure effective Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management capabilities, necessitating the establishment and maintenance of robust partnerships to ensure successful project delivery.


Your profile

  • Bachelor Degree or master’s degree in engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical.

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project management of capital projects in the Pharma industry.

  • Ability to manage either a significant large project (EUR 100 M +) or portfolio of projects and demonstrated ability to achieve results

  • Understands the typical project life cycle from concept through to qualification and has proven experience in these areas.

  • Proven knowledge, appreciation and experience of working in a strongly regulated environment.

  • Solid experience executing significant capital projects for manufacturing with different types of execution strategies

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of the customer relationship and the management of engineering companies required for successful completion of complex capital projects.

  • Demonstrated performance in building and managing multi-functional teams.
