For our Animal Health organization, we are currently recruiting a Project Leader R&D (Swine & Ruminants)

With more than 200 employees, our R&D division is involved in the (further) development and registration of vaccines and pharmaceuticals for animals. Our departments for Swine and Ruminant vaccines consist of global teams, with a total of 45 people located in Boxmeer, one of the world's largest animal health bioscience centers. We are organized into project teams responsible for the end-to-end research and development of vaccines, from feasibility studies to product licensure, as well as product life-cycle management thereafter. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Project Leader R&D.
Purpose of the role
In this position you are responsible for the project-based development and refinement of bacterial vaccines with the aim of increasing and enhancing our product range for swine and ruminants. You will lead the projects assigned to you from pre-development to licensing whereby you lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary project team, but also make a substantial scientific contribution to the actual research and development. You will be conducting feasibility studies by organizing and executing laboratory trials to determine the safety and efficacy of vaccine candidates. Also, the laboratory trials required for licensing a new product will fall under your responsibility. Of course, you make sure all study results are reported internally and as required publish and present technical papers to internal and external audiences. Furthermore, you will also develop new production processes and test methods together with specialists in these fields.
This role requires close collaboration with specialists in various areas including veterinary science, bacterial process development, vaccine formulation, manufacturing, bioinformatics, intellectual property, assay development, immunology, animal experimentation, pathology, regulatory affairs, and marketing. You report into a Group Leader.
Your profile
- Postdoc in a bacteriological subject, preferably related to an infectious disease.
- Industrial experience is an advantage.
- Article 9/FELASA C will be required.
- Excellent communication skills and a team player.
- Excellent command of the English language, oral and written.
- Eligible to work in The Netherlands.
