Job Description

For our Northwest Europe (NWE) Cluster we are currently hiring a:

Director Business Practices & Data Privacy – Northwest Europe

This is a remote position and can be based in The United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands or Switzerland.

The Position

Reporting into the Managing Director Northwest Europe, as a Business Practices and Data Privacy Lead, you will play a critical role to ensure that Organon Compliance Standards and external country obligations are met across the Northwest Europe (NWE) Cluster. You will be part of the cluster Leadership Team and you will define and lead the NWE cluster compliance program. The Business Practices and Data Privacy Lead will also be responsible for bringing innovation in bringing efficiencies and simplification in everything we do while ensuring compliance.

This exciting role will require leading a team of 6 BP ( Business Practices) Stewards in several countries in the NWE cluster and working on enterprise-wide initiatives with the Office of Ethics & Compliance and Organon’s wider Business Practices community.

Responsibilities

Process simplification

  • Bring a culture of challenging the status quo to ensure efficient and nimble process across of our organization while ensuring compliance of our operations.
  • Lead and escalate initiatives to transform the way we do things.

Data Privacy and Compliance Program

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data privacy and compliance program for NWE cluster in alignment with local and international regulations.
  • Identify and assess potential data privacy and compliance risks and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Stay abreast of evolving data protection and pharmaceutical regulations in across the NWE cluster.
  • Ensure that the organization's practices and policies comply with relevant laws and industry standards.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and develop a high-performing team, providing leadership, mentorship, and coaching.
  • Set clear objectives and performance metrics, driving a culture of accountability and excellence.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Utilize tools including PULSE to identify and mitigate against key outliers, in high-risk areas.
  • Ensure all transparency reporting obligations are met for each market.

Audits and Investigations

  • Serve as the primary contact for both internal and external audits, assessments, and investigations related to data privacy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare for and respond to audit inquiries promptly.

Training and Education

  • Develop and deliver compliance and data privacy training programs for employees to raise awareness and enhance understanding.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams across the organization to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of compliance and data privacy activities, including incident reports, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management and regulatory authorities as required.

Incident Response

  • Develop and implement an incident response plan for data breaches or compliance violations.
  • Lead investigations and coordinate remediation efforts when incidents occur.

In addition to the above, you will work closely with the NWE Managing Director and NWE Compliance Committee to address Compliance concerns and updates.

You will collaborate with Office of Ethics & Compliance to align with global objectives and actively feed into company-wide compliance initiatives through the wider global BPM community. Encouraging a continuous improvement mindset and implementing simplification strategies will be key across this complex cluster.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • Proven experience in compliance, data privacy, or a related role, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is a must.
  • Successful people-manager and leadership experience across multiple markets.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Strong sense of diplomacy, solid negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to advise/ influence senior leaders.
  • Agile and innovative mindset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Certification in data privacy or compliance (e.g., CIPP/E, CCEP).
