The Position

Global Commercial Project Consultant

We are looking for an inspirational business consultant who serves as a trusted partner for affiliates in big and complex projects.

Main Tasks:

Partner with regions and affiliates to identify and prioritize key accounts where business consulting positively influences commercial performance.

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to support affiliates to co-create solutions for customers projects.

  • Engage with key customer accounts to promote the value of Roche solutions and maximize our win-rate of complex customer tenders.

  • Connect with other global functions for complex solution integration projects, including lifecycle, consulting teams, and other global M&CI teams.

  • Collaborate with the Customer Areas in the definition and execution of promotional activities to ensure successful product’s launch to the market.

  • Partner with regional and affiliate organizations on the key customer accounts during the pre-sales phase and provide strategic guidance to grow their business.

  • Promote tactics and strategic thinking in the local organization to maximize the adoption of Roche’s solution into the market and increase revenues.

  • Support affiliates to identify new business opportunities and positioning of future products in cooperation with the lifecycle teams.

  • Provide feedback to the global Business Areas on market acceptance of Roche solutions and help them identify gaps in our product portfolio to drive continuous sales growth.

  • Collect market insights and competitive information from the affiliate and develop competitive arguments with evidence and fact-based data to support pre-tender projects.

  • Lead cross-functional teams on customer projects and act as a Global Business area representative.

  • Drive best practice sharing and competitive knowledge with affiliates/region around commercial tactics and solution design

Roles & Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Represent the global organization in the local markets

  • Manages cross-functional teams without formal authority through influence and relationships

  • Coach affiliate consulting leads, sales lead and product managers to deal with objection handling from customers regarding the Roche offering

  • Coach affiliate consulting leads and sales lead to facilitate customer facing workshops around innovative solution design and translate the findings to customer needs and commercial opportunities to finally design a comprehensive Roche solution

  • Primary point of contact for regions/affiliate consultants for support on commercial related topics and approaches to customers

  • Lead customized solution design, lean workflow optimization, commercial decision and strategic plan for key country organization projects

  • Act as a project manager for most complex customer projects performing stakeholders management to achieve key deliverables for the project design/planning, including creation and maintenance of project documents

  • Promote a project management culture within global and affiliates, as well as standardization of tools across the entire chain i.e. simulators, other tools and required documents

  • Development and delivery of consultancy packages for countries, liaising with Regional Representatives to capture countries' priorities

  • Engage country/regional organizations to conduct current vs future state metrics collection to assess the improvement on Time, Quality, Staff Efficiency, Cost and competitiveness by providing tools and knowledge to collect this data

  • Liaise with Global Business Teams in regards to customer requirements collection and business needs towards future solution growth

  • Cooperate with Global Business Teams in any Customer area about new features/developments that need to be cascaded to the consultancy network in terms of market positioning.

  • Closely collaborate with other Global Commercial Consultants to promote a high performance culture and streamlined processes


  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to drive and manage cross-functional teams as a Global representative

  • Capability to work in matrix organization environment

  • Well-developed skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning to meet required deadlines

  • Able to work conscientiously

  • Capability to work in matrix organization environment

  • Conceptual thinking and problem solving skills to produce cooperative outcomes within a global environment.

  • High analytical and ability to use data and metrics to drive project performance

  • Ability to cooperate with Global, Region, Country and Support organizations

  • Ability to work on challenging and complex situations

  • Willingness to try new ideas and participate in change

  • Self-motivation skills as well as assertiveness and intercultural sensitivity

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%

  • Time flexibility

Education and Experience

  • Experience with design simulation and optimization of corelab solutions

  • Master’s degree in either Health Sciences or Engineering disciplines

  • Sufficient experience in sales/service management in solution selling/concept

  • Understanding of the healthcare system and laboratories operations and processes

  • An IT background or IT experience is considered as an asset

  • Lean Six Sigma and/or Project Management certification is an advantage

  • Experience with multiple and complex projects with cross-functional teams

Location: Main location is Rotkreuz, other locations is within Europe, due to time zone & in one of Roche's affiliates.
