DESCRIPTION:
We seek a Systems Infrastructure Engineer III to maintain and optimize our technology infrastructure. You'll work with advanced systems and contribute to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. This position offers opportunities to work with enterprise-level systems, implement innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvement across our infrastructure.
You'll design, implement, and maintain critical infrastructure systems, develop automation solutions, and ensure high availability of services. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust technical solutions while maintaining security and compliance standards. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic thinking to support our organization's digital transformation initiatives.
• IT Compliance
Work in compliance with regulatory, global and site quality guidelines;
Ensure changes to electronic systems are fully documented and performed in a controlled manner;
Follow procedures carefully and precisely to comply with Standard Operating Procedures;
Assist in or the creation of qualification documentation (CC, IQ’s, OQ’s, PQ’s, etc).
• Application
Liaise with project vendors to support and build site systems to be compliant with Thermo Fisher Scientific standards;
Support site manufacturing and commercial systems (training where needed will be provided);
Manage vendor relationships.
• Desktop and OT support
Work with Engineering to support GxP desktops and HMI devices (builds, migrations, and lifecycle refresh);
• Vendor support
Liaise with vendors who support the managed IT systems;
Support troubleshooting activities;
Host vendor remote access sessions when required.
• Backup and Security Management
Administration of backup routine, including monitoring, restoration of files, tape changes, rotation, and labelling;
Administration of anti-virus software including ensuring pattern files are successfully updated for isolated network devices;
Administration of Windows security patches on isolated networks;
Disaster recovery development, planning and testing.
• Servers Administration
Server application troubleshooting;
Troubleshoot user access problems;
Identify risk of system or server failures;
Active Directory administration.
• Other IT support Activities
Take ownership of relevant support calls that fall outside the scope of the CIS deskside support team;
Provide support and assistance to the global monitoring team that monitors site equipment;
Create support documentation for new systems and processes.
• Collaboration with CIS teams
Assist with Mounting & Un-mounting, deployment of network infrastructure in data center (Switch, Routers, Servers, etc.);
Support the design and build for business application infrastructure on premise and in the cloud;
Partner with global IT to deliver solutions for business partners that comply with global security and quality standards;
Ability to work in a team structure, make technical decisions, solve problems, communicate inside & outside the organization, and analyze, plan, organize and prioritize work;
Partner with global shared services to perform environment builds using industry standard tools;
Partner with Engineering and Global IT to support IIoT and Industrial cybersecurity;
Participate in projects, in association with the plan and within the set cost limits, in such a way that the requirements of the users are met;
Support in development/work out ideas for the functional design.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure management and operations
• Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, NetApp, VMware) preferred
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and virtualization technologies (VMware)
• Expertise in Windows and/or Linux server administration and configuration
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Shell scripting)
• Experience with storage systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery planning
• Understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and best practices
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and IT service management
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with monitoring tools and performance optimization
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to participate in rotation coverage as needed
• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure as code
• Strong documentation and process improvement skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Experience in regulated environments (GxP, SOX) preferred
