The Position
As a Manager, Electrical Engineering you lead electrical, electronic and electromechanical development and electrical engineering resources. Their activities include technical leadership of electrical systems, subsystems and module development projects, electronics design and architecture, product road mapping with the goal of development high quality profitable, innovative, reliable and sustainable systems and workflows. Key interactions will be required with internal customers i.e., program and product management groups, marketing, application groups, operations engineering, technical support and hardware and software development geographically dispersed locations, for example Hillsboro (US), Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Brno (Czech Republic).
Key responsibilities include, but are not exclusively:
- Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and motivate a team of electronics, electrical and electromechanical engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Provide mentorship, career development opportunities, and regular performance evaluations.
Promote continuous learning to ensure the team remains current with industry trends and standard processes.
- Project Oversight and Delivery:
Plan, lead, and supervise resources for multiple electronics development projects to ensure timely and successful delivery.
Establish clear goals, and timelines in collaboration with team members.
Implement and maintain standard review processes and set clear expectations around the key deliverables of modules and electrical development process.
- Technical Strategy and Innovation:
Encourage innovation by exploring and adopting new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Ensure the development of reliable, scalable, and cost-effective electronics solutions.
Participate on business reviews, co-architect product roadmaps to fit the long-term business strategies.
- Resource Management:
Allocate resources effectively across projects, balancing team capacity and business priorities.
Manage budgets and ensure efficient use of resources to optimize development processes.
Work closely with recruitment to attract, onboard, and retain top talent in electronics engineering.
- Multi-functional Collaboration:
Coordinate development approach with software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to ensure flawless integration of electronics in product designs.
Be primary liaison between the electronics team and other departments such as operations, service.
Support customer communication, ensuring alignment on goals, progress, and deliverables.
- Competence management:
Maintain and develop electrical and electronic competencies based on product and technology roadmaps, identify and tackle key competency gaps.
Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency, quality, and team productivity.
Ensure all development work adheres to industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and establish metrics for success.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Act as the escalation point for technical or operational challenges within the team.
Make informed decisions to resolve issues, balancing short-term needs with long-term strategy.
Encourage data-driven problem-solving approaches and innovative solutions, promote use of Design for Six Sigma approach.
Requirements and Competencies:
- University Degree in related technical field required. Advanced University Degree in related field preferred. PhD in these fields and/or significant prior design experience preferred.
- Proven experience working on R&D projects in a multi-disciplinary project organization.
- Ability to frequently interacts with supervisors, group leaders, customers and peers. Some interactions may involve sr. management. Interactions normally involve matters and coordination between functional areas, other departments, or customers and the company.
- Advanced technical knowledge & conceptual thinking.
- Good skills in persuading, inspiring developing and motivating are required in order toto interact with other people.
- The ability to set and create the right working climate is important because a substantial part of the work is achieved through others.
- Creating safe environment, respecting contributions of others, and ability to adopt alternative solutions if it is better.
- Proven track record to build consensus among key partners.
- Fluent in English language.
