The Senior Technical Sales Manager will lead the sales strategy for the Pharma Analytics business across Europe, operating remotely from Belgium, the Netherlands, or the United Kingdom. This role partners closely with a specialist sales team and regional/divisional sales organizations to drive profitable revenue growth through disciplined pipeline management, strong customer engagement, and continuous team development.
With deep expertise in the European biopharma and bioproduction markets, the Senior Technical Sales Manager will balance the implementation and execution of divisional and regional sales strategies and processes. The role defines and deploys the most effective product and workflow solution strategy for the European market, ensuring alignment across global and regional commercial organizations, the Regional Technical Services Organization, and the Divisional Business Unit.
This position reports directly to the Sales Director, Pharma Analytics, with matrix reporting to the Regional Commercial Director (Europe/EMEA), ensuring alignment with both short- and long-term sales objectives.
A Day in the Life:
Lead the European revenue and bookings plan for Pharma Analytics, driving the regional sales team to achieve financial objectives and exceed targets.
Develop regional goals, establish sales metrics, and ensure consistent execution through structured sales processes and disciplined CRM (Salesforce) pipeline management.
Prepare and manage annual and quarterly budgets and staffing plans aligned to strategic business objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with channel partners, strategic accounts, and Key Opinion Leaders within the life sciences and bioproduction industries.
Drive a comprehensive and balanced sales approach across the Pharma Analytics portfolio, fostering a strong hunter mentality to expand the customer base and increase market share.
Coach, recruit, onboard, and develop high-performing sales professionals while promoting cross-functional collaboration and leveraging the full Thermo Fisher Scientific value proposition.
What to expect:
- Ownership of revenue growth and forecast accuracy across the European region
- Development and execution of regional sales strategies aligned with global objectives
- Rigorous pipeline management and CRM (Salesforce) reporting
- Identification and standardization of best sales practices (e.g., RAIN Selling)
- Engagement with senior stakeholders, strategic accounts, and industry leaders
- Recruitment, onboarding, and development of top sales talent
- Frequent travel across Europe (up to approximately 50%) and occasional international travel
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Experience
- 8–10 years of experience in technical sales and/or marketing within a relevant industry.
- Strong preference for experience selling into bioprocessing or bioproduction markets.
- Minimum of 5 years of people management experience.
- Demonstrated success operating within a globally matrixed organization and leading business-level sales strategy execution.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead high-performing sales teams.
- Strong background selling complex, high-value product and technology solutions with long sales cycles.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Deep understanding of the European biopharma and bioproduction markets.
- Knowledge of molecular biology applications such as qPCR/Sequencing and/or bioproduction upstream and downstream processes.
- Strong strategic thinking, sales planning, and execution capabilities.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce) for pipeline management and performance tracking.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong customer relationship-building skills within industrial and life sciences markets.
- High level of organizational skills with the ability to manage complexity and multitask effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently in a remote-based role with limited day-to-day supervision.
