The Sourcing Project Lead (SPL) plays a crucial role within the Procurement organization, serving as the primary representative for Procurement in cutting-edge New Product Introduction (NPI) projects conducted in collaboration with Research and Development (R&D).
You will have a consistent track record of being able to work in a complex and dynamic environment. You are used to lead innovation projects strategically with supply base partners, owning up a large scope of responsibilities, setting the right priorities to deliver results.
A background in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering combined with commercial affinity is essential to be successful in this role as you are part of the cross-functional development team. Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses relevant experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, and/or Project Management, with a preference for those who have worked in High-Tech Systems development environments characterized by high diversity and low production volumes.
The Position
Sourcing Project Lead (SPL) is an integral member of the global New Product Introduction (NPI) Sourcing team. This team is tasked with providing comprehensive project management support to ensure the efficient introduction of new products into the Supply Chain, adhering to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Product Management Process (PMP).
The scope of the activities includes providing the Procurement deliverables that are required for prototypes, pilots and volume deliveries from Thermo Fisher Scientific’s supply chain, across all relevant stakeholders and involved Supplier Partners. In addition to NPI’s, also other types of strategic projects are to be supported such as transfer and margin improvement projects.
Most of the work will be based in Eindhoven but occurs in close collaboration with sites in Czech Republic and USA, travel locally/ globally is anticipated to be up to 10% of your time.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Working closely with R&D, Business Units, Global Procurement Category and Business Procurement teams to support delivery of NPI projects as well as on Procurement goals, which include but are not limited to:

Defining the Supply chain securing Procurement strategies and taking into account supplier’s capabilities;

Make/buy decisions in alignment with Divisional requirements and Core/ Non-core strategies;

Supplier Quality and Risk management (in close collaboration with Supplier Quality Engineering)

Time to market from a Supply Chain perspective

Monitoring and driving Cost of Goods Sold (CoGS) towards Business Design-to-Value targets;

Secure Design-for-Manufacturability as well as Design-for-Service covering the full product lifecycle during the NPI stage;

Supplier contracting and management in support of development projects.

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities

Early supplier engagement in the front-end stages of development to ensure that NPI projects benefit from supplier expertise

The core of the role is to drive improved designs, reduced costs, and streamlined Supply Chain processes
Education:
-
University degree (Mechanics/Electronics/Industrial Engineering) or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills.
Experience:
-
Robust project management background capable to manage on time, quality and cost aspects of NPI projects, preferably demonstrated by relevant Project Management certifications.

7+ years of experience of which at least 5 years in the field of NPI project management, preferably in the high tech industry.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Preferably trained in specialized Procurement skills including leading negotiation

Good interpersonal communicative skills, with understanding of influencing without power

Collaboration and Teamwork; ability to work in high-pressure cross-functional settings

Building and maintaining relationships

Hands on, self-propelling person with a natural drive for results

Problem solving and analysis (Lean certifications are a pre)

Continuous quality and performance Improvement

Disciplined, solid in reporting to executive level

Excellent English language skills (verbal and in writing)
