Electronic microscopes are the most sophisticated laboratory instruments that are used today. These tools and our software applications are used by scientists and engineers in life science, material sciences and semiconductor industry, indirectly affecting our life in many aspects.
Team:
The Design & Integration team is a pillar of the Material Science Research and Development organization. They are part of the Engineering team responsible for developing SDB and TEM microscopes. The team works in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites in Europe. This job is located in the Eindhoven offices.

Position:
You will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team and work on advanced imaging technology for our high-tech electron-microscope modules or sub-systems.
In this position you will be working on following tasks:
- Taking responsibility for the full path from definition to release of a sensor design
- Translating customer, application-level requirements into low-level image sensor requirements
- Supervising and challenging sensor suppliers in their design creations, with the aim to obtain the best possible performance in our cameras and detectors
- Supervising the application of sensors in our modules covering electrical, mechanical and thermal aspects
- Performing image quality assessments and bringing proposals for improvements in the imaging chain
- Coaching (junior) engineers in evaluation tasks
In this role you will interact with many people in- and outside our organization like suppliers, system architects, application specialists and peers. Following trends in the industry in image sensor technology and definition of technology roadmaps for future projects are part of the job.
Qualifications:
We encourage candidates with following qualifications to apply:
- A university degree (MSc or PhD) in Electrical Engineering
- Expertise in low-noise detection is strongly preferred
- Expertise in high-speed, low noise circuitry design
- The combination of analog, digital and switch-mode power supply circuitry requires knowledge on signal integrity and interferences minimization in PCB layout designs
- Ability to verify designs through simulation before prototyping
- Understanding of thermal management and thermal influences on overall noise performance
- Taking initiative, self-steering, self-confident and have perseverance
- Combination of a strong analytical view with a pragmatic attitude
- You are an excellent communicator and a great teammate
- Able to switch between thinking on a high/conceptual level and on a detail level
- You are value oriented and able to set and act according to priorities at the same time
