Byondis zoekt een

Researcher analytical chemistry

Nijmegen, Netherlands

Byondis is an independent Dutch biopharmaceutical company, based in Nijmegen, that focuses on developing innovative medicines against cancer and autoimmune diseases. Our values  integrity, authenticity, entrepreneurship, quality and trust are very highly regarded. We are driven by one goal: to develop new treatments to improve the standard of care for patients.

Your Role

The department of Analytical Development and Quality Control (ADQC) plays a key role in Byondis’ development and manufacturing activities, because without extensive and accurate measurements, biotechnology-derived medicinal products cannot be designed, improved or applied. That is why we take pride in providing high quality analytical information to ensure the safety and efficacy of our innovative products in patients.

ADQC comprises a diverse and multidisciplinary team of about 31 people with in-depth knowledge and experience in various analytical technologies, ranging from chromatography, electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, microbiology to cell-based assays. Within the department, analytical methods are developed, qualified and applied to characterize new biological entities, such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and antibody-drug conjugates (ADC).

The large molecule physico-chemical analysis team within ADQC is looking for a highly motivated, and preferably experienced, Researcher to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for method development, optimization, troubleshooting and qualification of capillary electrophoresis and/or liquid chromatography-based methods. You will be using these analytical methods to provide support to colleagues from research and process development to facilitate the development of innovative molecules, such as mAbs and ADCs.

Moreover, you will be generating data in support of release, stability and comparability testing of Byondis’ molecules. The position largely involves working in R&D, but also includes responsibilities regarding analyses in a GMP-regulated environment.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

You are natural team player with an attitude to collaborate and communicate, both with your direct colleagues (peers), as well as with colleagues from other disciplines. You are flexible and able to act in a dynamic and demanding environment. You take ownership of activities with a focus on precision and quality of your own and your colleagues’ work. You are result-oriented, pro-active and creative to provide answers rather than test results. You are self-motivated, which enables you to work with a high degree of independence.

  • A B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. This is not a PhD-level position.
  • Relevant experience with capillary electrophoresis and/or liquid chromatography for biomolecules, preferably in pharmaceutical industry.
  • Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g. Empower) is preferred.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate results in discussions with colleagues, as well as in formal reports.
  • Willingness to continuously develop and expand your skills, knowledge and expertise and support your direct colleagues in doing the same.

Benefits and well being

Besides a competitive salary, we offer you a dynamic working environment at our state-of-the-art campus in Nijmegen.  We also offer a good pension scheme, 30 days annual holidays, based on a fulltime position, and we organize several company events throughout the year.
