Associate Specialist, Materials Science and Engineering (MS&E)
To be based in the Pivot Park, adjacent to the Organon site in Oss-The Netherlands

Organon Analytical Sciences (AS) is seeking for an Associate Specialist Materials Scientist/ Analytical Chemist to extend our Materials Science & Engineering team. The MS&E team in Oss currently consists of 10 employees, 9 located in Oss and 1 in the US. We deliver global support to manufacturing (internal/external), chemical technical operations, and QA/QC departments. Our work ranges from resolving small issues to conducting full root cause investigations of drug product, API, excipients and packaging materials.
Purpose of the role
The investigations are performed by the following areas (techniques):
- Powder Characterization: PSD, Bulk/Tapped density, Flodex, Water activity, Morphologi-4
- Imaging/Material Identification: SEM-EDX, FTIR, Raman, Optical microscopy
- Thermal Analysis/Phase Behavior: DSC, TGA, DVS, XRPD
- Packaging/Mechanical Testing: Tensile and Compression testing, X-ray inspection
Main responsibilities
- Support and assist MS&E to organize and execute global Analytical Sciences laboratory activities in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Work hands-on in Materials Science with techniques such as PSD by laser diffraction, SEM-EDX, Morphologi-4, FTIR, Raman, Optical microscopy, DSC, TGA, DVS, Water activity, XRPD, Tensile/Pressure Bank, X-Ray Scanner, Rheometer) to support and execute MS&E projects/initiatives.
- Play an active role in further building the MS&E team.
Your profile
- Master/bachelor with several years of hands-on/lab experience in Pharmaceutical/Physical/Chemical/Analytical Science
- Experience in research and development, manufacturing, and testing of pharmaceutical products is a plus
- Proficient in writing (technical) investigation reports.
- Knowledge in several of the above-mentioned techniques.
- Experience in troubleshooting, product investigations and analytical method development
- Ability to work independently, make decisions within guidelines, and meet deadlines
- Ability to take responsibility and work under high pressure
- Proficient in technical writing and current computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English.
