Job Description
The Therapeutic Commercial Lead is responsible for bridging communication between commercial teams, therapeutic teams, and clients, ensuring seamless collaboration and tailored solutions. This role contributes to the development and implementation of growth strategies, drives authorizations, optimizes proposal development and bid defense, and develops strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The therapeutic commercial lead sits within the commercial team to drive therapeutically aligned authorization targets and requires a strategic problem solver with strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate across functions to achieve business objectives.

You will enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer by helping our clients and sponsors to understand how our clinical development service offering enables them to deliver life-changing therapies to their patients more quickly.
What will you do:
- Growth Strategy Development: Plays a key role in creating and implementing growth strategies, ensuring they align with Commercial business objectives and goals, and focusing on strategic high-value opportunities to enhance market penetration, expand the customers portfolio and market share. Participates in the creation and annual updates of the Commercial components of Strategic Growth plans. Identifies new market expansion opportunities and prospects for assigned therapeutic units in collaboration with TU leaders and commercial teams, driving proactive selling and additional authorizations through business and account development. Serves as the Engagement Champion for therapeutic specific conferences/events, defining and coordinating the engagement strategy, aligning BD/TU ownership for outreach, setting goals, and tracking outreach efforts. Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies to expand internal and external relationships and business opportunities. Ensure client strategies are in sync with therapeutic unit strategic growth plan, when applicable.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate Relationships - Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in assigned accounts, both internally and externally.
- Customer Loyalty - Enhance customer loyalty and satisfaction by providing industry insights and addressing challenges using data and insights. Executive Collaboration - Collaborate with external and internal C-suite executives to build trust and gain business insights. Client Advocacy - Strengthen client engagement and advocacy at high organizational levels. Stakeholder Management - Collaborate with the TU leadership and Business Development on account plans by gathering feedback to share best practices and competitive insights. Collaborate with business development, proposal development teams, and therapeutic areas to create tailored solutions for clients, while building strong relationships with internal teams to execute strategic growth plans. Collaborate with development operations and biotech portfolio leads to ensure opportunities are identified and visibility into key accounts is increased. Coach commercial and therapeutic leadership teams on effective conference strategies and prospecting techniques to maximize lead generation, deepen engagement, and drive business growth.
- Authorizations: Uses therapeutic specific win/loss analysis to inform future deal strategies. Works with Biopharma and Biotech commercial teams to achieve therapeutically aligned revenue and overarching CDSD authorization targets. Acts as the main contact for Biotech and Biopharma Commercial Leadership when an account is attempting to enter the TBU. Is a Commercial expert on therapeutic specific offerings and differentiators, guiding internal business and account development teams on strategic growth priorities. Support portfolio alignment planning for new and existing clients.
- Client Meeting Facilitation: Meet with clients and assist teams in articulating operational strategies and gaining consensus for business development.
- Proposal Development and Bid Defense: Coordinates with proposal and bid defense teams, and partnership solutions as needed, to contribute to the selling narrative and win strategy. Helps develop therapeutic-specific, novel, and innovative commercial solutions, including commercial constructs, financial incentive structures, and operational models.
- Establishes strong working relationships with internal commercial, operational, and finance partners to ensure execution according to plan. Enhances salesforce effectiveness, utilization, and optimization, possibly including prospect forecasting and recommendations.
- Innovation: Identify customer needs to guide therapeutic innovation and investment strategies. Comprehend client market positions and industry trends. Influence internal innovation to address client needs and improve processes. Develop and present materials that articulate strategic models to stakeholders.Track CRO and pharmaceutical industry trends to maintain the company's leadership in innovative commercial packages offering.
How will you get here:
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, or a related field is the required minimum education; MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 15+ years in commercial roles within the CRO, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device sales industry with shown success in Business Development and Clinical Operations
- Solid track records of past successes growth strategies in achieving market growth, expanding customers portfolio and increasing companies’ revenues.History with breadth of global responsibility and account management. In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of the CRO industry and clinical trial processes, including regulatory requirements and standards. Strong understanding of complex technical requirements and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate, cultivate and influence stakeholders across functions and at all levels.
- Executive presence with ability to build and foster senior level customer relationships. Demonstrates robust judgment, problem solving and decision making; Ability to apply critical and analytical thinking and business acumen to develop effective solutions.
- A “big-picture” thinker with the ability to contribute meaningfully to strategic discussions while also remaining attuned to the details required for successful operational execution; capable of translating market insights and business objectives into actionable commercial strategies.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills; expertise in building data-driven business cases.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.

Working Conditions and Environment:
- Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
- Travel, both domestic and international of around 40%
