The Systems Engineering group focuses on the Competence & Technology pillar within the TEM Systems organization, which focuses on the research and development of Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). Our mission is to create innovative technologies, modules, and components that enable us to deliver world-class TEM systems tailored to the needs of demanding semiconductor markets.
As advancements in physics and industry drive increasing performance requirements, our TEM Systems department collaborates with Advanced Technology Development and strategic partners to transform promising technological concepts into groundbreaking products. About Metrios:
The Thermo Scientific™ Metrios™ is an advanced TEM imaging system designed to automate and optimize imaging workflows. With the Metrios™ AX, we introduced the world's first commercially available Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (S/TEM) using machine learning for automated, high-quality data collection. As Manager of Systems Engineering group, you will lead a diverse and motivated team of 15–20 engineers specializing in mechanical engineering and semiconductor solutions. Located primarily in Eindhoven, your team will directly report to you.
You will serve as a coach and mentor, supporting their growth in competencies and skills while fostering collaboration and innovation. Additionally, you’ll handle relationships with suppliers and development partners. This team’s expertise includes stages, holders, and EFEM systems, working closely with module and system architects to define and enhance current and future competencies in SEMI TEM development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Systems Engineering group focused on mechanical engineering.
- Develop mechanical and systems engineering competencies within the team.
- Oversee team goals, performance evaluations, and talent acquisition.
- Ensure high-quality output from team members.
- Provide effort estimations and resource allocation to support project portfolios.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in team processes, collaborations, or competencies.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the TEM technology roadmap, ensuring commonality across portfolios.
- Collaborate with industry partners, research centers, and universities to develop innovative concepts and modules.
- Engage with project leads, program managers, and peers to ensure productive collaboration across teams and divisions.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with expertise in mechanical system design principles.
Proven experience leading teams in a high-tech R&D environment.
Strong understanding of New Product Development (NPD) processes and challenges.
Knowledge of Electron Microscopy technologies is highly preferred; experience in other complex industries will also be considered.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects through defined processes.
Outstanding skills in inspiring, persuading, and motivating teams.
