The Position

The TEM Portfolio team is one of the Portfolio teams within the Material Science R&D organization enabling customer centricity. This group is committed to lead the development of innovative product-, module- and integration projects that enable us to deliver extraordinary TEM microscopes for our demanding markets and customers.

As Senior Project Manager you work within a hard-working multi-disciplinary team, and you are responsible to deliver successful projects and highly performing teams. You handle all dependencies between projects and/or programs and to build bridges to secure gate adherence.

In your role, you showcase good knowledge of sophisticated systems and promote Practical Process Improvements with high impact potential. You possess authority level in your field of competence and are able to influence your environment to get things done.

You can easily and effectively communicate business merit and risks of solutions to key partners via written and verbal communication to persuade strategic action.  Ensuring teams to actively listen to others and are understood is in your nature. As you have an aim to make yourself, your team, and your environment better, you’re capable of mentoring 1 - 2 junior project leads.

You have a lot of freedom in your job and you'll build a network within R&D, Business units, Operations, Service, external partners, and customers.

You will report directly to the MS Portfolio TEM leader.

Duties and responsibilities

• Programming and execution of projects, like System Integration, large Modules, Non-Standard Requests and Non-Standard Orders to support faster market introductions and customer deliveries.
• Implement meticulous review processes and set clear expectations around the key results of the projects.
• Consistency to the Product Management Process and defined delivery schedules.
• Handle the requirements and collaborate with multi-functional teams including marketing, manufacturing, service, and finance to ensure breakthrough specifications to be delivered.
• Supply to the R&D budgeting process by providing financial/budgetary analysis.
• Manage the project scope within the agreed budget, timeline, and quality.
• Vet, evaluate, and champion to others new insights for potential product concepts using risk-taking and innovation tools.
• Lead others to refine own ideas and ideas of others and look for alliances.
• Participate and promote intellectual property related idea generation and development.
• Secure and maintain customers' and business' needs are translated into technology / function roadmap by associated system architect and SW architect.
• Operationally responsible for all related projects within the Cluster.
• Provide or steer input for Technical Assessments for Non-Standard requests.
• Provide support (2nd/3rdlevel) for released modules
• Assure the cluster strategy and roadmap is aligned with Portfolio leads and Business Unit.
• Assure the Co-Developer and Supply chain roadmap (including Supply Chain architecture) is aligned with Cluster Roadmap.
• Make budget level project estimates for project proposals.
• Warrant with the Architect/Technical leader the commonality of their modules across the products.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

• Typically requires a University Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field.
• Typically requires 10+ years of work experience, of which you have worked in similar low volume high tech industry.
• 7+ years confirmed experience in systems or subsystems project management, with ambition to continue to grow in a role as Sr. Staff Project Manager.
• Consistent track record to lead complicated engineering projects through a defined product development process.
• Ability to build consensus among key collaborators that may not be under your management control.
• Strong communication is required due to the multi-functional nature of this role. Explaining business and, technical concepts to a variety of audiences energizes you.
• Ability to lead and assign specific duties and build a constructive and coordinated working relationship.

You combine a strong analytical view with a pragmatic demeanor and can flex yourself in a product development environment. You are value oriented and able to set and act according to priorities at the same time.
